Removes surface contaminants from the part. Products used have an excellent detergency on oily type soils. The surfactants in the cleaner promotes wetting of the greasy/oily surfaces which then aids in emulsifying and dispersing the oils/soils

Iron phosphate coatings are chemical coatings applied to Aluminum, iron or steel surfaces before painting. Phosphating causes a reaction that changes the molecular structure of the surface, providing up to 1,000 times better paint adhesion than an untreated metal surface. Iron phosphating increases impact resistance along with improved flexibility. Treated metal surface has the ability to stop progress of oxidation underneath the paint when damaged by an external impact. A chemical conversion coating that is also known as an amorphous coating.  Provides a bondable surface for the next application. The new surface contains Iron and phosphates, thus no crystal formation

Zinc Phosphate coatings are a crystalline conversion coating for steel and other metals that is formed on a ferrous metal substrate. The process of Phosphate coating is employed for the purpose of pretreatment prior to coating or painting, increasing corrosion protection and improving impact resistance for external components. In other instances, phosphate coatings are applied to threaded parts and top coated with oil (P&O) to add anti-galling and rust inhibiting characteristics. A tri-cationic chemical conversion coating that changes the chemical and physical nature of the surface.  It improves paint adhesion and extends corrosion protection. The phosphate process replaces the metal surfaces with a stable non-metallic polycrystalline surface. This new surface, which is a mineral, actually becomes part of the substrate. The new surface has Zinc, Iron, Manganese Nickel and  phosphates in the crystals
